Live Play On Stage: In the typically mundane world of Vanya and Sonia, siblings by adoption rather than birth, life is as thrilling as watching paint dry. They lounge around the Hardwicke house, their parents having passed on, living off their celebrity sister Masha’s money while grumbling about their lives. Vanya’s quiet surrender to fate frays against Sonia’s aching discontent for the life that slipped away from her. Enter their housemaid Cassandra, who loves dropping ominous prophecies like “beware of Hootie Pie”. The drama cranks up a notch when Masha swoops in with her new lover, Spike, a muscle-bound, not-so bright, rising actor. At first, her visit seems to be about attending a costume party, but surprise! Masha's assistant Hootie Pie has planted the idea to about sell the family home. Between Sonia stealing Masha’s thunder at the party, Spike’s eyes wandering to Nina, the charming neighbour, and Cassandra’s voodoo antics chaos ensues. Things reach a breaking point when Vanya unveils his new play starring Nina. But when Spike can’t stop texting during the show, Vanya unleashes a nostalgic tirade, revealing Masha’s true allegiances lie and what that means for her family’s future.
