Turn it up to eleven and warm up those vocal cords — we’re throwing a birthday party fit for rock royalty. Join us for a Sing-A-Long Screening of Bohemian Rhapsody to celebrate what would have been the 80th birthday of the one and only Freddie Mercury. Released in 2018, Bohemian Rhapsody charts the meteoric rise of Queen — from humble beginnings to stadium-shaking superstardom — culminating in their legendary Live Aid performance. With electrifying recreations of iconic songs including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” “Somebody to Love,” and “Don’t Stop Me Now,” this is not a screening for the shy and retiring. This is your invitation to sing. Loudly. Proudly. Possibly off-key. We’ll have the lyrics on screen, the sound cranked high, and a room full of fellow rock disciples ready to stomp, clap and channel their inner Freddie. Sequins optional. Enthusiasm mandatory. Because legends never die — and on this night, Freddie’s spirit will be very much alive at the Capri.

This highly engaging film takes us on a journey through the life of one of the most prevalent female icons: Frida Kahlo. She was a prolific self-portraitist, using the canvas as a mirror through all stages of her turbulent and, at times, tragic life. Guided with interview, commentary and Frida’s own words, EXHIBITION ON SCREEN uncovers that this, however, was not a life defined by tragedy. Featuring key exhibitions and interviews with world-renowned Kahlo curators, EXHIBITION ON SCREEN explores the extraordinary symbolism and themes in these personal canvases to seek a deeper understanding of the real Frida Kahlo. Using cinema to take an up-close and intimate look at her works we examine how great an artist she can be considered. Displaying a treasure trove of colour and a feast of vibrancy on screen, this personal and intimate film offers privileged access to her works and highlights the source of her feverish creativity, her resilience and her unmatched lust for life, men, women, politics and her cultural heritage. We might think we already know Frida Kahlo – the image of floral crowns, big brows and folk style clothing have made her a muse to generations – but what lies beneath the surface of this intensely passionate woman?
Two of Britain’s greatest painters, J.M.W. Turner and John Constable were also the greatest of rivals. Born within a year of each other, both used landscape painting to reflect the changing world around them. Tate Britain is bringing these two greats together for a groundbreaking exhibition, in London from November 2025 to April 2026, and Exhibition on Screen once again has exclusive and privileged access to bring their extraordinary art and remarkable stories to the big screen in February so that you can enjoy both film and exhibition together. Discover unexpected sides to both artists with intimate views of sketchbooks and personal items and insights from leading experts. Turner’s blazing sunsets and sublime scenes from his travels and Constable’s idealised depictions of beloved places from home whipped the public of the time into a frenzy of enthusiasm. Constable represents the very best of the old school of realism and pastoral nostalgia; Turner, an exciting new way of depicting emotion and dreamlike impressions. Critics compared their starkly different styles to a clash of ‘fire and water’. Don’t miss this opportunity to see these greats side-by-side, as they so often were in life, on the big screen for the first time.

Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Forty years on, the ultimate day of delightful delinquency still rules the school. Join us as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off — the era-defining comedy that turned sick days into an art form and made a parade float the coolest ride in Chicago. Matthew Broderick’s fourth-wall-breaking charmer, Alan Ruck’s anxious best mate Cameron, and Mia Sara’s effortlessly cool Sloane remind us that sometimes you just have to take a look around… before life moves pretty fast. Directed by the legendary John Hughes, this 1986 classic became a cultural touchstone for a generation — from the Ferrari fantasy to the unforgettable “Twist and Shout” sequence that still brings the house down. Whether you first bunked off with Ferris in ’86 or you’re discovering his masterclass in mischief for the first time, this is your official excuse to skip the ordinary and spend a couple of hours at the movies. After all… if you don’t stop and watch it on the big screen once in a while, you could miss it.

From acclaimed director Sophie Hyde (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande), JIMPA is an uplifting multi-generational family story starring award-winning favourites Olivia Colman and John Lithgow. Hannah (Colman) travels to vibrant Amsterdam with her teen, Frances (Aud Mason-Hyde), to reconnect with her politically-engaged, gay father—affectionately known as “Jimpa” (Lithgow). Frances is besotted with Jimpa and announces they wish to stay with him for a year – to Hannah’s apprehension. Jimpa is fiercely independent, so it is a shock when his declining health is revealed, upending Frances' plans and bringing Hannah’s sister in from the UK. As the siblings negotiate what happens next, Hannah must confront her past and the stories she has told about her family. With warmth, humour and joy, JIMPA reminds us that, in every family, there are stories that don't add up.

Diamonds may be forever… but icons are once in a century. Join us as we celebrate the 100th birthday of Hollywood’s ultimate blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe, with a dazzling double feature on the big screen. First, it’s the sparkling, show-stopping glamour of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, where Monroe’s Lorelei Lee teaches us all that diamonds are a girl’s best friend (and that pink satin never goes out of style). Then we turn up the heat with The Seven Year Itch, featuring that subway-grate scene — the white dress, the breeze, the moment that defined movie history. From her comic timing to her vulnerability, from Technicolor musical numbers to Manhattan mischief, Marilyn remains one of cinema’s most enduring stars. A century on, she still glows on the big screen exactly as she was meant to. Get ready to rewind the clock and fast-forward the fun! Join us for a delightful trip down memory lane with a kids’ nostalgia event that celebrates the golden days of giggles, cartoons and classic cinema magic. We’ll kick things off with a colourful vintage cartoon on the big screen — the kind that had us glued to the telly on Saturday mornings — followed by a charming short silent comedy, brought gloriously to life by John Slater on the mighty Capri WurliTzer theatre organ. There’s nothing quite like live organ accompaniment to show young audiences how movies used to sparkle before sound! Then it’s time for our feature presentation: Mr. Bean's Holiday. Watch as the delightfully bumbling Mr Bean wins a trip to the French Riviera — and turns a simple holiday into a whirlwind of chaos, kindness and side-splitting physical comedy. With barely a word spoken, it’s proof that great comedy is truly timeless. Perfect for kids discovering these classics for the first time — and parents reliving their own childhood laughs — this is a joyful celebration of screen magic across the generations. Cartoons. Silent comedy. Live organ. Mr Bean. Now that’s a holiday worth packing for. ✨

In 1984, Prince didn’t just release an album — he unleashed a phenomenon. Purple Rain became a cultural lightning bolt, blending music, drama and autobiography into one of the most iconic rock films ever made. The Story: Prince stars as “The Kid,” a gifted but troubled Minneapolis musician navigating rivalry, romance and a turbulent home life while fighting to keep his band — The Revolution — on top at a local nightclub. At its heart, Purple Rain is about finding your voice, breaking cycles, and turning pain into art. Why It Matters: - Made on a modest budget of around $7 million, the film grossed over $70 million worldwide. - The soundtrack became one of the best-selling albums of all time, spending 24 consecutive weeks at No. 1 in the US. - It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. - The legendary title track “Purple Rain” was recorded live at Minneapolis’ First Avenue club — the very venue that inspired the film’s setting. Marking ten years since Prince’s passing, this screening is more than a movie night — it’s a celebration of a once-in-a-generation artist whose style, sound and fearless individuality still electrify the screen. Let’s go crazy… one more time.

Dust off your bunny ears and round up the family for a morning of old-school fun at the Capri! We’re kicking things off with a classic cartoon to warm up those giggles, before stepping back in time for a short silent comedy brought gloriously to life by John Slater on the mighty WurliTzer theatre organ. There’s nothing quite like the sound of pipes, pedals and playful melodies filling the Art Deco auditorium — just as it did in cinema’s golden age. Then it’s time for cheese, chaos and colossal carrots as we screen the beloved claymation adventure Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. When a mysterious beast starts terrorising Tottington’s vegetable gardens, eccentric inventor Wallace and his long-suffering (and much smarter) dog Gromit must hop into action. Expect cracking contraptions, British wit, and more Wensleydale references than you can shake a celery stick at. It’s a celebration of screen nostalgia for kids and grown-ups alike — cartoons, silent comedy, live organ music and a modern animated classic, all under one beautifully restored 1920s roof. Big laughs. Big carrots. Big organ sound. Book early — this one’s bound to multiply!
